Painting skyscapes is a meditation on their ethereal quality. Across cultures, the heavens are thought of as the place of the supernatural and in cultures that do not ascribe to the idea of the supernatural, people nvoluntarily look up at the sky when they are exasperated, as if to say “Can I get some help here?”. The act of looking at the sky is a metaphysical experience when one realizes that they aren’t really looking at something finite but instead miles and miles of air that continue out to space and on towards infinity.
